Coastal Lecture: Shipbuilding & Stewardship on the Coast

  • Castle Hill on the Crane Estate 290 Argilla Road Ipswich, MA, 01938 United States (map)

Join us for a lecture at the Crane Estate with KD Montgomery, Executive Director of the Essex Shipbuilding Museum. In this talk, KD will explore the unique intersection of traditional craftsmanship and environmental stewardship that defines the Essex Historical Society and Shipbuilding Museum. By examining the role of shipbuilding in the area since the 1600s, KD will highlight how the museum engages the community to connect heritage with present-day sustainability practices. Attendees will gain insight into how the skills, creativity, and environmental awareness of early American shipbuilders serve as a model for protecting our waterways and salt marshes today.
